Pete Anderson

BVSc 1975,BSc,DipSc,MACVSc

I graduated from Massey University in 1975 and have practiced in Marlborough ever since. I have a long history of practical farm research, farm advisory and consulting work, and have been employed by several companies and research organizations as a consultant, including the FAO in Kosovo. I have been the Facilitator for the Marlborough Monitor Farm and have been involved with StockCARE® (when it was called Sheep for Profit®) since its inception.

I'm a hard-working country vet working with all farm animals and horses. I am now principally involved with advisory work. My passion is sheep and beef production systems. This has included a targeted approach to the development of risk management strategies associated with lamb wastage. My involvement with the analysis of sheep pregnancy scanning and tailing data led to new and useful information and highlighted areas where performance could be improved. From this Optil-Lamb - a computer tool for predicting and recording flock performances evolved.

I have passed examinations for Membership of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists (MACVS) specializing in Sheep Medicine and am well known as Marlborough's flying Vet, travelling to farms throughout the back country of Marlborough and to my StockCARE® clients throughout North Canterbury, Nelson and Golden Bay.
